Understanding how erection in a man works, will give us more insight on how to maintain a strong erection.
A man becomes sexually stimulated by what he sees, thinks about, feel, or hears. Some men will also get what are called spontaneous or reflex erections, meaning you get an erection even when you aren’t being touched or thinking sexual thoughts, but on this post I am going to concentrate on how to maintain a strong erection that are stimulated by the five senses.
The stimulation then triggers multiple responses in the body. It may trigger messages from nerve endings, it may trigger chemicals in the brain, or it may be both. In any case, messages from inside the body are sent to parts of the penis (called smooth muscle) with the message that they should relax.
The smooth muscle relaxes, because the arteries carrying blood to the penis open wider, allowing more blood to flow into the penis. As blood flows into the penis, an erection occurs, the more blood that flows in the stronger erection the penis gets.
Erection continues until the signals from the brain stop, but erections are not consistent; waking and waning are normal, even during intercourse.
As the penis becomes engorged with blood, the veins that usually direct blood out of the penis are compressed, which prevents the blood that flows in from leaving the penis. The blood stays in the penis, which is how a strong erection is maintained.
Erection can occur throughout life, happening before birth and into the 90’s in healthy men. Nocturnal erections occur during all male dreams (regardless of what the dream is about), unless the man has physical problems (this is the easiest way to determine if impotence is physical or emotional in nature). Morning Erection is the result of being wakened during, or just after a dream; and it can be a very persistent erection. While a morning erection is not a sign of arousal, it’s presents and the pleasurable sensations it can create may result in arousal.
When the blood flows out of the penis and the veins open, the penis becomes soft, most cases this happens after ejaculation. After this, there is a period of time called the refractory period, during which it is difficult for a man to have another erection
Now the big question “How to Maintain a Strong Erection”
Men have only very limited control over their erections. During puberty the young man is often embarrassed by erection in public settings, but he gradually becomes able to suppress erections when the stimulation is mild. Likewise, it is impossible to “will” an erection, although sexual thoughts can cause erection. During prolonged foreplay a man’s erection may go away; this is normal, and is not a sign of lessening interest.
